Why it is not wrong to attack Israeli state
“ A conspiracy theory - and certainly the Jewish conspiracy theory - is something quite different which seeks to ascribe social, political and scientific phenomena to a secretive, behind-the-scenes conspiracy of unknown forces with an unpublished or concealed agenda.”
Rebecca Long Bailey’s sacking for re-tweeting a comment by Maxine Peak is a logical next step in a process endorsed by Jeremy Corbyn himself in which anti-Zionism is equated with anti-semitism. Nobody is able to establish the truth behind Peak’s assertion that the US cops directly borrowed their brutal killing of George Floyd as a result of training collaboration with Israeli “security” forces. I tend to doubt it since this brutality goes back a long way.
However, given that such collaboration has occurred and that Israeli “policing” of Palestinian Territories is notoriously repressive such a link is not exactly far fetched and would only serve to underline how deeply oppressive the state can be.
We will never know the truth of it if every criticism of the Israeli state and its international backers is immediately branded as anti-Semitic. Do the CIA and Mossad conspire against the Palestine insurgency? I have no doubt about it just as I don’t doubt that Mi5 also conspires with many other secret services to oppress insurgencies and unrest in many parts of the world.
The clue, if you needed one, is in the word “secret”. They do it behind our backs, they conspire. That is the way our ruling class functions in virtually every country. A conspiracy theory - and certainly the Jewish conspiracy theory - is something quite different which seeks to ascribe social, political and scientific phenomena to a secretive, behind-the-scenes conspiracy of unknown forces with an unpublished or concealed agenda.
That is not so in the case of the Israeli state whose annexationist agenda is crystal clear. Nor is it the case with the US whose brutality at home and abroad clearly corresponds with its long established function of upholding the interests of its billionaire ruling class. Of course that is not what you will hear from Keir Stammer. Or, for that matter, from Rebecca Long Bailey who has now been hoisted on her own petard.
